Dementia Advocacy Project
This project provides specialist advocacy support to older people with Dementia in North Staffordshire. For more detail on the project click here or contact the project coordinators: Rachel Ashworth, Kath Curley or Jane Snape
The Dementia Advocacy Project has been awarded further funding from the Joint Commissioning Board. This extra funding has enabled the project to recruit a further dementia advocate, resulting in the project having three dementia advocates. The extra funding was partly achieved by the current co-ordinators of the project raising awareness of dementia advocacy, via work with Stoke-on-Trent's dementia clinical reference group. The reference group are developing a dementia pathway and the co-ordinators of the project have highlighted the importance of a dementia advocate role in the pathway. Alongside this work the new National Dementia Strategy is on the agenda both locally and nationally. The successful candidate commenced their position in June 2010.
