Unshackling Good Neighbours-One Year On

May 25, 2012

We welcome the work of the Cabinet office in addressing Lord Hodgson’s report Unshackling Good Neighbours. (See report below). In particular the adoption of the single portable CRB check and a move to placing common sense at the heart of people’s wishes to help one another is a long called for change. The new guidelines for volunteers also help to free us from some of the myths and regulations that had become such a barrier to people’s involvement. We now need to take these opportunities to create a society where people instead of being anxious or fearful embrace neighbourliness.Alan Hatton-YeoChief Executive
