UK Older People’s Day is on 1st October to coincide with the UN International Day of Older Persons. The main aim for the Day is to be a national celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and to the economy. Through this we hope to start to tackle negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes; 2012 is also the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations We would like to invite everyone who is over the age of 50 to take part in a short survey to help us collect information on the 2012 UK Older People’s Day theme of ‘Big Skills Share’. The results of the survey will help us to collate evidence of older people’s views around skill sharing with other generations and activity on 1st October, the results could offer some significant insight into this area if we are able to get enough people to join in – we are hoping for at least 1,000 completed surveys. The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and we will be collecting data from the survey up to 13th September 2012. The survey is also available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/olderpeoplesday2012You can find out more about Older People’s Day on the website: www.dwp.gov.uk/olderpeoplesday and if you are organising an event you can register them there to let others know what is going on in their area.Thank you in advance for your help in supporting us to collect information around skill sharing across generations.
