I think there is a big debate to be had here about how older people are portrayed and defined in the movies - my feeling is.... it is OK so long as the portrayals are various and reflect the fact the older people are not all the same and that we are people first and older second - we are defined by more things than age and the aspect of us that is defined by age is defined differently from person to person. Also, I'd like to think that portrayals aren't patronising, a cliche or unendingly miserable!
