European Social Innovation in Ageing Award

Posted in: News on June 24, 2013

We invite you to Social Innovation in Ageing – the European Award! This award has been launched to promote and support social innovation in the field of active and healthy ageing in Europe. Social innovation is more than a trend. It is about a new culture of innovation which responds to social problems and needs, in a sustainable and socially accepted way. Social innovation depends on people like you who develop and implement innovative solutions in the field of active and healthy ageing. The ageing of population creates manifold challenges for individuals as well as society. How can people as they age become active participants in their communities? How can their employment opportunities be increased? How can they be better supported in coping with health issues? How can they learn to interact with new technology? How can they be better supported by institutions and professionals without losing their independence? How can they exchange knowledge and experience with younger generations? We want to invite you to participate in this award, to share information on your initiative and to become part of a European community for social innovation in active and healthy ageing. The 20 finalists of the award will participate in a case study analysis where researchers will take a closer look at the context, the process, and the impact of your social innovation. Three finalists will be selected as award winners receiving prizes of up to € 10.000.
