Zooming Down Memory Lane
Our Healthy Generations Project, online social support sessions grew from strength to strength throughout 2021. We have supported each other during the long months of the pandemic, through further lockdowns and tier systems. Even when we moved into the new way of ‘Living with Covid’, our members choose to continue to meet virtually using the ‘Zoom’ virtual communications app - giving people the opportunity to safely ‘meet’ with each other; reducing isolation and loneliness, making new friends, trying new skills and connecting with family as they became expert in the use of ‘Zoom’.
Early in the year, we added a ‘Local History’ group to our range of sessions, and it soon became clear that we all have similar memories and connections within the City of Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and Staffordshire Moorlands. We have learned so much together, about each other and the interesting history of the towns we live in. We have drawn from our own memories of places and events and produced a personal memoir, which we are delighted to share with you!
‘Zooming down Memory Lane’ is a collection of work from all of our themed social support Zooms; sharing poems, stories, memories, artwork and photography. Maybe we can encourage you to put pen to paper, or even to come along and join us!
You can flip through the pages of our interactive e-book by clicking HERE.  Please feel free to share far and wide, and if you know anyone aged 50+ in the Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and Moorlands area who might like to join our Local History – or any of our sessions - just email: jane.snape@bjf.org.uk or telephone 07930 321841/ 01782 844036 (Leave a message) All are welcome!
