The Beth Johnson Foundation is delighted to be a partner to the new Stoke-on-Trent (SOT) All Age Carers Service led by North Staffs Carers. This valuable service provides a single point of access for Carers of all ages and ensures that Carers have access to a wide range of support services, information, advice and guidance. The service brings together a range of partners to provide holistic support; enabling Carers to feel better supported so they are able to make informed choices about their caring role and own health and wellbeing.

 Who does the service support?
A Carer is someone who, without payment, cares for someone who could not manage alone. The caring role can be diverse, and many people do not identify themselves as Carers and do not seek help and support. If you or someone you know provide care to a family member, friend or neighbour and are living in Stoke-on-Trent then you may be eligible to access support services.

What does BJF Carer’s Support service offer?
Over the years, BJF has developed services that enable people to age well through health and wellbeing, advocacy and staying connected to their communities. Taking a whole community approach means that we are involved in intergenerational work, bringing younger and older people together, and in supporting carers.
In this digital age we have worked with older people and carers to understand the needs people have in accessing information and support online.
We look forward to working closely with the SOT All Age Carers Support Service and we will:
  • Support carers to become more confident in using digital technology (whether that be phone, tablet or PC) and help them to understand broadband and connect their devices via existing Wi-fi provision
  • Support carers to use their skills to find online information and to understand the use of apps
  • Connect carers to BJF’s Healthy Generations project where they can join other people to improve their health and wellbeing
  • Enable carers to use digital technology to build networks and reduce their isolation.
