The Community Hub Library project

Promoting social inclusion through community activity sits at the heart of  the BJF Community Hub Library.

The Community Hub Library providing free access to books; it supports adult literacy in a constructive way; bringing people together in a safe warm space; offering free refreshments and encouraging human interactions to enable local people to feel part of a community. It provides opportunities for quiet conversation, all while engaging with those who attend to input into the matters affecting them, from which we at BJF can learn from and build on to offer future community support. The eight themed sessions have been carefully and deliberately selected to encourage local older people to come together, be creative, work together and learn new skills which ultimately might lead some individuals to pursue further interests in reading, storytelling, poetry or creative community action. A simple resource to maximize impact in a local community.
