We celebrated BJF Volunteers during our quarterly team meeting today. Our volunteers are very busy people, often volunteering with us alongside their day jobs, or volunteering with other organisations in our community too. Volunteers take holidays and juggle commitments too, so whilst some volunteers couldn’t join us, we celebrated our whole team.
What a wonderful group of people! we spent two hours together catching up, listening to each volunteer describe the support they provide in our communities. We reflected on the difference volunteers make in the lives of our older community members.
From bereavement friendship group support to telephone buddy calls; providing digital support and organising our community library; raising awareness about accessibility and welcoming community members into Parkfield House…
This team of people build each other up, sharing pride both in their volunteer roles and in each other. We are very lucky at BJF to be supported by volunteers who help to shape the work that we do, the support we provide and the community we build together.
