Digital Friends
Do you want to join our volunteer team helping older people to use digital technology?
You don’t need to be a digital expert to volunteer, all training is provided
Digital technology has transformed our lives and is now central to things such as communications, health, work, public services, shopping and leisure. The Covid lockdown has increased our dependence on the internet, and it is more important than ever that everyone has opportunities to develop basic digital skills and confidence.
We are working with partner organisations to develop an exciting new community project ‘Discover Digital’ to help older people to use digital technology.
BJF is recruiting volunteer Digital Friends, to reach out to people over 55 in Stoke on Trent who may not have friends or family members to offer them digital support. Digital Friends help to run BJF Digital Engagement Events in our communities. Digital Friends provide one to one support, helping more older people to learn what technology is, how it can be used to stay in touch with family and friends and how it can open up a new world of connections. Volunteers are at the centre of Beth Johnson Foundation, working together with us to reach, connect and support older people in our communities.
Personal experience of using a digital device such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer will be helpful, but Digital Friends don’t need to be technical experts. Digital Friends will need to have an email address, and access to the internet.
Help us make sure that nobody gets left behind in the digital age.
