Staff at the Beth Johnson Foundation had heavy hearts on Monday, as we attended the funeral of our former colleague, Lynne Wealleans. Lynne (Director of Policy & Engagement at BJF) died peacefully on the 24th of May, aged 67. The funeral was held at Stafford Crematorium, Monday 12th June, at 3.30pm, where family and friends gathered together to remember Lynne and to say goodbye.
Lynne began her employment here at the BJF in June 2002 and left in October 2021, so 19 years of service, during which time the work of the Foundation was extremely important to her.
Lynne’s passion for promoting positive ageing and especially improving the health and wellbeing of older people in our communities shone through the many work strands and projects that Lynne was involved in locally, regionally, and nationally over the years.
Lynne was much loved and well respected by the staff, the local communities, her colleagues in London (Campaign to End Loneliness, DWP, Parliament etc.) and her peers, locally and nationally. The BJF simply would not be how it is today without Lynne’s considerable influence over the years.
As an ambassador for positive ageing, Lynne wanted to spend quality time with her grandchildren following retirement, so sad that wish has ended. Our thoughts are with Lynne’s family and friends at this sad time.
